1. Strict consensus cladogram depicting the relationships among Trictenotomidae, Salpingidae, Boridae, Pythidae and Pyrochroidae, according to Watt J.C. (1987: The Family and Subfamily Classification and New Zealand Genera of Pythidae and Scraptiidae (Coleoptera). – Systemat. Entomol. 12: 111-36).

2. Strict consensus cladogram depicting the relationships among Trictenotomidae, Salpingidae, Pythidae, Boridae and Pyrochroidae, according to Pollock D.A. (1994: Systematic Position of Pilipalpinae (Coleoptera: Tenebrionoidea) and Composition of Pyrochroidae. – Canad. Entomol. 126: 515-532).

The most important type depositories of Trictenotomidae are:

Museum national d'Histoire naturelle, Paris - types of DEYROLLE (four species);
Royal Museum, London - types of SMITH, GRAY, WESTWOOD, PARRY (three species);
Naturkundemuseum der Humboldt-Universitaet, Berlin - types of KRIESCHE, VUILLET, DOHRN (two species, one subspecies);
Staatliches Museum fuer Tierkunde, Dresden - type of KRIESCHE (one species).

I examined aprox. 80 specimens of Trictenotomidae from different museums and private collections during my activities in 1998-1999. I studied the types of Autocrates oberthueri VUILLET, Trictenotoma formosana (KRIESCHE) and T. childreni birmana DOHRN (= childreni GRAY), too. Studies of another types are planed. Preparation of a revision of this family based on phylogeny and comparative morphology will be started next year.
