The eighteenth Meeting of the Willi Hennig Society will be held in Göttingen, Germany, 12-17 September 1999. You are cordially invited to attend.A fusion of various attempts to reconstruct phylogenetic relationships can be observed, with advanced molecular methods, detailed morphological and ethological studies etc. now beingviewed as almost equally valuable. Therefore we have, after some time of controversial discussion on methods, chosen the general title "Phylogeny and Evolution" to lay emphasis on a areunification of phylogenetists. In 1999, the Willi Hennig Society will meet for the first time in Germany, where the founder of phylogenetic systematics, or cladistics, Willi Hennig, was born in 1913. Therefore, thescientific meeting will begin with a few presentations on the early history and the roots of phylogenetic systematics.General information (see also )The Scientific session will be held in the lecture hall of the Institute of Education (Institut für Erziehungswissenschaften, Waldweg 24). English is the official language of the symposium and will be used for oral presentations, posters and abstracts.CorrespondenceAll correspondence concerning registration, scientific program, poster presentation etc. and the post conference tour(s) should be addressed to Rainer Willmann or Thomas Bartolomaeus.Rainer WillmannInstitut für Zoologie und AnthropologieBerliner Str. 28D- 37073 GöttingenGermanyThomas BartolomaeusZoomorphology and Systematics BiologyUniversity of BielefeldPostfach 100131D-33501 Bielefeld, Germany
